Five Tips For Home Schooling During Covid-19

Due to Covid-19, all children received home education because the schools were closed. The primary schools in certain countries will open (in part) on May. Not all children will go to full school immediately. For example, primary schools halve the group size in the classroom. About 50 percent Children go to school at all time. The other half of the time they attend home education. Schools are now deciding on how to get it best organized, and parents will be informed about this after that.

Tip 1. Keep it achievable

Learning at home should also be fun, so that it can be sustained for the children, but especially for you as a parent. You do this by keeping it relaxed and not increasing their pressure.

Fixed rhythm

A steady rhythm helps to keep it fun for everyone. You can divide school work over the day and alternate it with relaxation, eating or drinking moments and playing outside. Do not handle the schedule too tightly. When children wander, or become restless, it can be good to start doing another activity.

The relationship between parent and child – as a teacher and student – can create tension.

Be aware of the changed relationship. As a parent you are not trained as a home teacher and you have to combine this with work. If it doesn’t work in the beginning, try to seek relaxation in other activities together.

Tip 2. Alternate work and exercise

It is important for all children to exercise during the day. Some children have a great need for exercise and sports. It is good to stimulate movement.

Fortunately, many sports clubs are open where you can exercise outside. This means that many children will regain rhythm in their weekly (sports) activities.

There are all kinds of fitness videos on YouTube for children and young people. In ten minutes, these videos offer a small workout. Of course, running or cycling is also an option.

Tip 3. Use teaching materials from school and beyond

A lot of digital teaching material is now available. Primary and secondary school teachers usually give assignments online. The work that children have to do is ready for them. That provides support and structure.

Teachers, of course, make sure that the material matches the level of the child. If you also use teaching material from outside school, it is important to be careful about this.

Tip 4. Talk to others about how things are going

Make sure there is room for everyone to tell how things are going and to ask questions. Everyone is doing their best and trying things out to find out what works. Sometimes it goes well and sometimes it does not. It helps to share these experiences with others. Seek advice if things are not going well.

It is nice for children to talk after a few hours of work. For example, ask what they have learned. Not to check them, but to show that you take the school work seriously and to finish it well together.

Tip 5. Organize help on time

If giving or receiving home education is not going well, it is important to get help. Sometimes distance education is not successful, because there are tensions at home, or because there are no resources, such as a computer or the internet.

Even now that education is partly starting up again, it can be complicated to organize the activities during the week. Younger children may already be able to go to school and older children may not yet. It is possible that some of the children receive education at school and some still need home education. Contact the teacher or someone else from school if there are difficulties.

Homeschool and Covid-19: What’s the Problem?

Let’s look beyond the mask.

Homeschool parents and students must be looking at the problems traditional schools are facing with no small degree of wonderment. As homeschool families require minimal change in their routine, classroom teachers are scrambling to find the balance between in-person and online learning.

Of course some change is inevitable, even for homeschoolers. Soccer matches are on hold, parks and hiking trails closed, even the workout gym isn’t available.

While those closings are disappointing and disturbing, homeschoolers know how to create, to innovate and how to survive mentally and emotionally.

Even if the weekly group meeting is electronic, homeschoolers confidently connect online with other students and parents who understand the dynamic nature of learning and life.

Homeschoolers get it!

They know life changes daily, yet they continue to grow as individuals and community. Every day is an adjustment to change, some changes subtle, others profound. Families who homeschool are not totally controlled by autocratic decision makers or government decrees.

The homeschool system of learning is founded on solid learning principles, one of which is that you confidently adjust as needed to a changing environment. There is no waiting for extended committee meetings or infinitely delayed administrative dictum. Your mind matters most and enables you to make the proper decisions in this rapidly changing cultural environment.

In fact, the present pandemic can become an effective teaching tool, integrating something real in our lives with traditional “school stuff.” This integration, while not in the books, can create lifelong learning while increasing our analytic ability, knowledge base and creativity skills.

It’s not in the books, but who cares!

Actually, it’s in life… and we should all care!

Take a close look at the following list of how the Covid-19 Pandemic is related to traditional school courses.

1. History: What are some historical worldwide pandemics?

2. Math: Plotting various graphs of infections, hospitalizations, deaths, etc.

3. English: Write short stories or poems about masked people and not seeing smiles.

4. Science: How does a virus differ from bacteria?

5. Politics: Does the pandemic being continued favor one political party over another?

6. Literature: Is this a sequel to 1984 or Brave New World?

7. Debate: Government Control versus Individual Independence.

8. Physical Education: Build a workout place using household items.

9. Economics: Why are some business essential, others not?

10. Art: Depict peaceful protests and violent riots in watercolor.

11. Music: Compose mood music or words showing internal emotions of the elderly currently living in nursing homes.

12. Psychology: Dig deep. What’s going on in your mind?

13. Technology: What would this be like if we didn’t have our smart devices?

Those suggestions listed above are only kick-starters for our minds. Each of those sections can have multiple related assignments. Start with a blank paper and do a mind-map of where you can go with each of these.

Always look at the bigger picture.

Face the truth. We are in a pandemic and it is not fun. It isn’t fun, but we can learn from it. We must not become victims of media manipulations. It is critical we keep our minds alert and active. By looking seriously at the relationship between the pandemic and real learning we may find relationships of a greater nature than first appears.

Our nation was founded on solid principles based on genuine truths. Our independent minds must continue to be focused on those truths. We need to continue that tradition. We cannot allow anarchy and riots to change the nature of our country.

Fight the fight.

Keep the faith.

Video offers you a new angle to your marketing. It has the potential to reach millions of viewers worldwide at any time of the day. What this means for your business is an increase in subscribers and conversions. To get the best video marketing experience you need to have a coherent marketing strategy in place.

Unless you’ve been living on another planet it is a sure fire bet that you’ve heard of YouTube. To recap, this is a video sharing site that is now owned by Google. The power of video marketing does not only lie in its universal reach. It is also the fact that it is low cost. If you make a video for uploading online it will cost you next to nothing.

You certainly do not need any expensive video equipment – really all you need is a cheap camcorder and a computer. Some Smartphone’s such as the iPhone offer great quality, high definition video which is sufficient for quick simple videos.

People tend to watch video on their computer still, but that is changing everyday. It is estimated that currently people mainly use their Smartphone’s to surf the net. As iPads and other portable devices come more into the mainstream, more and more people are going to watch video in this way.

Also any articles you have written can be converted into video. People love to watch video as opposed to read a lot of text and you can position yourself ahead of the competition by having a good video marketing strategy.

If you are unable to do any of this yourself then hand it over to someone who can convert your text into video. It will save you time and allow you to focus on other parts of your business.

Best video marketing tips

Of course there are many amateurish looking videos on YouTube and other video hosting sites. However, more and more businesses, whether large or small are discovering the power of video marketing and are using it to promote their products and service.

Use this tip – If your business has an online presence you should be using YouTube to promote it. You will find it has a huge audience available for you to promote your business to. This really is a marketers dream and was unheard of years ago.

We all love to be educated, entertained and informed about all manner of things. Online video can do this while at the same time provide an insight into your company, product or service.

A short two minute video can have huge benefits for your business. Think of all the traffic you can get back to your website after people have viewed your video. Think of all the sales coming your way. The possibilities here are endless and you can take advantage of this today.

If you do any kind of online marketing or you have a website then you really should be investigating the possibilities available in video. Tips to Increasing Your YouTube Video Views

Getting people to watch your YouTube video creations first requires you to understand why they watch videos in the first place. In the broadest sense of this, they are curious about what you have created because your title or topic has intrigued them or someone has sent it to them to take a look at which raises their curiosity level and they choose to check out your creation because of this curiosity. So knowing this, you will be wanting to employ strategies that will encourage people to share your creations and the easiest way to do this is through a “Call to Action” – ask them to share it if they like it or make it visibly easy for them to do so.

Regarding your topic, the best bandwagons to get on when creating a new video is to create something that relates to something that is currently trending. Using tools like Google Alerts helps with this, watching what people are tweeting about or posting to Pinterest or Facebook gives you insights as well. If what you are about on YouTube is general or flexible enough, you can jump on these trends and as people search voraciously online for new currently relevant content, you have a good opportunity to catch a piece of the action.

This is the kind of content that can go viral if you manage to catch the right waves. The trick is to be able to jump in ahead of the curve on a creation. Hit the early adopters/viewers who are looking to be the first kid on the block to know something and are then anxious to share their discoveries with Facebook friends, real friends, co-workers, etc. Videos of this sort are often short-lived view-wise but while they are “hot”, they fly high and fast.

Next comes the more self-serving, learning types of videos. People want to increase their knowledge in certain areas so they can be more successful themselves which can include finding ways of making more money, being better at their jobs, wanting to find new online tools to teach their children with, wanting to get to the next level in currently trending online games (overlaps with the bandwagon principle of what is trending as well). Here you can put out content that will continue to have audiences over the longer term. Your informational videos will be viewed again and again over the years by ever growing viewing bases if you have created content that is timelessly relevant. You don’t fly as high or as fast as you would by creating trending topic videos, but your growth should be steady over time as more and more people become aware of your content.

Now that you have selected the direction for the videos you wish to create, to get people to watch them you have to create quality content that people want to watch. There are several elements you need to work on to ensure this quality exists.

Entertainment Value: You need to ensure you capture their attention quickly and then keep if you are striving to reach them on an entertainment level. You have to continually throughout your video push interesting or visually appealing content at them or they will click off and go elsewhere. And this takes up front planning to achieve.

Apparent Content Value: If your goal is delivering solid knowledge improving value, you have to make sure your content is deep enough to give them real value that is actually useful to them or you will lose them as a follower – so every creation you build has to have depth. Do not put something superficial out there or you may lose them and never get them back.

Emotional Value: The very best video creations on YouTube all contain a good level of emotional value that reaches the viewer. For entertaining and/or trending videos, you want to hit certain emotional buttons in a person such as laughter, sentimentality, bonding with people, pets, children, etc., desires – such as living wealthy, living healthy, living skinny, travelling, etc. For knowledge videos, emotions include having money to pay bills, travel, retire, etc., getting more popular, famous or even noticed, solving a nagging problem – succeeding or achieving something, etc. The better you can relate emotionally to people in your creations, the more what you create will get watched.

Titles: Take time to create good titles for your creation. Don’t just create a title that is bland or just describes your content in some “vanilla” manner, try to create something that can catch a person’s eye. For example, a vanilla title for improving your website might be “Improve Your Website for SEO”; a better one would be “Get Your Website Righteous with the Google Search Engine”. The second one will catch more viewers’ eyes. Great adjectives help to improve viewing results.

Branding and Consistency: Get a theme going so people know what to expect each time you are putting out a new video. This goes for Branding as well – build a recognizable brand that people can remember and spot easily as they are surfing for content to watch. Consistency of Brand and Theme will get those that like your content to view the next release in a series. It’s also a good idea to create different playlists for your creations so that each playlist can remain consistent within a theme and new releases appear in each playlist as the next installment in the series. If someone finds a video labelled “Episode 9 – Content Title” for example and they like it, they will want to go watch episodes 1-8 also to be sure they haven’t missed anything in the series. So build well defined playlists consistent to a theme and release videos in a series – it helps get earlier videos watched and gets people anticipating the next release in the series so they can watch that also upon release.

Call to Actions: Make it easy for people to view other videos in your series. Strategically place YouTube “cards” and annotations in your creations that point people to your playlist so they can view all your related creations or to the next video in the series. Note: I like to always use the “Open in Another Window” option when adding these to give people the opportunity to finish watching the existing creation as well. This by the way, also has the added benefit of improving your per video viewing statistics.

These are just a few ideas in overview that will help you improve your video viewing statistics on YouTube. Couple these strategies with effective video promotion techniques, and your created content will get good exposure on YouTube.

Watch YouTube Music Videos to Help Improve

Most of us watch YouTube music videos for pleasure. We enjoy seeing others do the things that we would like to do. But not too many of us watch videos with one specific goal in mind, -“What can I learn from this video that will help me to sing better?”

If you often watch just for fun, do this the next time you sit in front of your computer screen, try the following:

1. Choose a couple of singers whom you admire who also perform the kind of music that you sing. (This is not to suggest that you can learn only from those musicians who are in the same genre. You can learn from watching anysinger. But it is a good idea to keep up with singers who are doing well in your specific musical category.)

2. Ask yourself what it is about this singer that has made him/her a successful performer. For example, with Michael Jackson, it was his ability to dance and his great rhythm.

Choose one or two characteristics that you like about the singer you have chosen.

3. Now watch the video while you concentrate on how s/he expresses those qualities in this performance.

For instance, if you are impressed with your singer’s voice – watch carefully how s/he breathes. Listen to how s/he phrases, how s/he uses her/his mouth, tongue, jaw to create a unique sound.

If possible, watch videos of live performances. We know that many, if not most professional music videos are dubbed with a high quality recorded version of the music we hear. Those singers are often not singing the music that you are hearing. So if you want to watch how they really produce their sound, watch them in a live performance.

4. Watch the same video again, this time concentrating on some other aspect of the performance that grabs your attention. The way your singer moves, perhaps. Or how they interact with other members of the band. Perhaps you are amazed by how this vocalist handles a microphone. Watch carefully. Think about it. Try it with your own microphone.

The point is to study what others do, and then try to mimic it. Set up your own video camera and watch yourself in action. Over time, you can create your own version of another singer’s scintillating moments.

Think long term.

Some singing careers last decades. If you are serious about singing, decide that you are in it for the long haul. Whether you are an amateur or a hopeful-pro, aim to make wonderful music for many years, and watching YouTube Music Videos can help you.
